Die Drehmomentstütze dient – ohne wesentliche Beeinträchtigung der Genauigkeit bei Hohlwellen-Encodern – dem Ausgleich von axialen und radialen Wellenbewegungen des Antriebselements und von Montagetoleranzen. Das aus der Lagerreibung resultierende Drehmoment wird durch die Winkelbeschleunigung der Welle aufgenommen.
