Ein RFID-Lesegerät (auch: RFID-Schreib-/Lesegerät, RFID-Reader) hat eine Antenne, die Anfragen an den RFID-Transponder sendet und Daten von diesem Transponder empfängt. Zusätzlich besitzt ein RFID-Reader die Möglichkeit, empfangene Daten auszuwerten und in das gewünschte Zielformat zu dekodieren.
