Small sensors for big challenges - IH03 and IM04 inductive miniature sensors from SICK

Oct 5, 2015

Waldkirch, Germany, October 2015 – With a minimal overall length of just 12 mm, the IH03 and IM04 inductive miniature sensors have set a new world record. Thanks to fully integrated electronics, they do not need any external amplifiers and have been developed specifically for applications with minimal installation space.

The small multi-talented devices enable positioning tasks at points where such work was impossible before. Application fields include handling grippers, linear units and tool spindles. The IH03 and IM04 sensors are not only extremely short, they also have outstanding performance thanks to ASIC technology with an exceptionally precise double sensing range of up to one millimeter. They feature an extremely high switching frequency of up to 8,000 Hz, allowing the inductive miniature sensors to handle even the fastest operating processes with ease. Not only filled with plenty of high end electronics the small sensors are also quite rugged due to their stainless steel housing. Integrated IO-Link communication makes sensor diagnostics, device swapping and identification incredibly easy—and ensures the sensors are perfectly prepared also for future challenges.

IMM sensors with minimal space requirements

The tough and reliable IMM sensor product family from SICK can be mounted in applications with limited space. These metric, inductive miniature sensors are ideal for highly dynamic applications in robotics, handling and assembly—and not just because of their low weight. Despite their small size, these sensors provide maximum performance with sensing ranges up to 1.5 mm and integrated electronics.

Inductive proximity sensors from SICK

Millions of inductive proximity sensors are currently in use in virtually every conceivable industry. They detect metal objects without contact, and are characterized by a long service life and extreme ruggedness. State-of-the art ASIC technology allows the sensors to provide maximum precision and reliability, regardless of whether they are in a cylindrical or cuboid design with single, double or triple sensing range and special sensors for Ex zones and harsh environments. Our sensors are the intelligent, reliable route to implementing industry-specific and customized solutions to any task involving automation.

SICK is one of the world's leading manufacturers of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications. Founded in 1946 by Dr. Erwin Sick, the company is headquartered in the German town of Waldkirch, in the Breisgau region near the city of Freiburg. It is a technology and market leader, maintaining a global presence with more than 50 subsidiaries and equity investments as well as numerous agencies. In the 2014 fiscal year, SICK had around 7,000 employees worldwide and generated Group revenues of €1,099.8 million.
