A dangerous state is any state of a machine or plant/system that can lead to injury of people.

Examples:

  • Machine movements
  • Moving vehicles
  • Live electrical parts
  • Visible and invisible beams
  • A combination of multiple hazards

In many illustrations, the dangerous state of a machine is depicted as the movement of a machine part.
