Absolute, non-contact length measuring systems for linear direct drives

Linear motor feedback systems are a mixture of incremental and absolute encoders, combining the advantages of both encoder types. Using highly linear sine and cosine signals enables the high resolution necessary for speed regulation to be achieved through interpolation in the drive. The sine and cosine signals are generated in a read head with integrated evaluation electronics which is led across a measuring distance without touching it.

The systems are used wherever high traversing speeds and simple mounting determine the requirements for a reliable measuring system.
