nanoScan3 is the smallest safety laser scanner from SICK. It is perfectly suited for the protection and localization of mobile platforms. Thanks to the reliable safeHDDM® scan technology, it delivers high-precision measurement data and is extremely resistant to light, dust or dirt. The easy operation of the Safety Designer configuration software and the smart integration options of the nanoScan3 offer a high level of flexibility for any application while also saving time. The nanoScan3 therefore offers the highest level of performance and availability in a compact housing, thereby securing system productivity.

The nanoScan3 from SICK advances the miniaturization of high-precision and extremely robust safety laser scanners. Thanks to the low sensor height of 80 mm, even small automated guided vehicles (AGV) can be optimally equipped – and production and logistics can be automated in more versatile ways.

The SICK nanoScan3 is at home wherever space is at a premium. Its compact housing opens up many doors to the user when it comes to designing small AGVs and mobile robots. The safety laser scanner was specially developed for small mobile platforms, and safety functions can be tailored to the environment.

Reliable safety laser scanner accuracy thanks to safeHDDM® technology

Dirt, dust, and ambient light are all par for the course in rough industrial environments. With this in mind, it is reassuring to know that the nanoScan3 can withstand these ambient conditions. This is partly thanks to the patented scan technology safeHDDM®. It uses numerous laser pulses to accurately detect its environment – with a phenomenal scanning angle of 275°.

safeHDDM® sets a new standard in the assessment of time-of-flight measurements in terms quality of data. The technology also enables the nanoScan3 to retain its field of view even in challenging ambient conditions. The HDDM (high definition distance measurement) process patented by SICK delivers unrivaled measurement results for safety laser scanners by filtering and analyzing 88,000 single pulses. In this way, safeHDDM® enables a very high level of resistance to ambient light, dust and dirt. And it does so with the highest level of safety: Even an object with a remission of just 1.8%, for example black pants, can be recognized safely by the laser scanner.

Safety Designer: intuitive and individual

The nanoScan3 can be flexibly configured and easily operated using the globally established Safety Designer software.

Save valuable work time and reduce unplanned downtimes: the nanoScan3 can be quickly configured and commissioned using the versatile Safety Designer software with process-oriented user guidance. You can easily implement and use safety functions. In addition, the multicolor display clearly shows the operational status of the safety laser scanner. Diagnostics – even during ongoing operation – and additional information can be easily retrieved as cleartext at the touch of a button.

Highest level of flexibility with up to 128 freely configurable fields

128 monitoring scenarios can be implemented according to the application and enable fluid movements and flexible routes from mobile platforms.
Individual field settings enable the adjustment of vehicle movements to the current hazard level.
The highly precise measurement data of the nanoScan3 is perfect for vehicle localization.

User-friendly in terms of configuration, commissioning and operation

Smart integration via standard interfaces

Safety-compliant integration in existing systems without excessive work: the nanoScan3 ensures cabling costs remain low thanks to the standardized interfaces, quick device replacement through a configuration memory within a system plug and safe machine integration via inputs and outputs.

The nanoScan3 makes things easy: it communicates safely through inputs and outputs. Configuration and diagnostics can either be performed directly on the device or over the network. This optionally centralized or decentralized status diagnosis reduces maintenance requirements. It also saves time, money and hassle when it comes to cabling during a device replacement thanks to the standardized plug connector and configuration memory.
