Ship emissions

Gaseous emissions (exhaust gases) from marine engines are referred to as ship emissions and, under certain circumstances, must be continuously monitored. Maritime monitoring of ship emissions must be applied in accordance with MARPOL guidelines in what are known as ECA zones. On ships, emission monitoring involves SO2 and NOx. SO2 emissions are continuously measured after passing through exhaust gas scrubbers.
