Fuel cell production

The production of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell involves component manufacturing, so-called stacking, and system assembly. The components include the catalyst coated membrane, the gas diffusion layer, and the bi- or monopolar plates. These components are stacked and connected to one another in the stacking step to achieve the desired electrical properties of the fuel cell. The fuel cell stack along with the air and water circuit as well as the cooling system are then assembled into the finished fuel cell system.
